Tunbridge High School had its origins as the Tunbridge English Nursery School which opened on 17th January, 1966 with just five little pupils and one teacher. A new class was added each year thereafter, until in 1984, the school was granted affiliation to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE), New Delhi.
The founder of the school, Miss Mavis Ramsbotham, ATCL, was also the Principal for the first seventeen years. Her policy of "no capitation fee" has continued to the present day. It was with her courage and vision, that Tunbridge High School opened its doors to children with special needs, and was the first school in Bangalore to offer integrated education, as well as the first school nation-wide to put up a visually impaired student for the ICSE examination. Tunbridge is proud to have a history of excellent results each year in the ICSE examinations - 40 consecutive years of cent-percent success!
The School at present has a strength of 600 students and 65 staff.
The School celebrated its Golden Jubilee on 17th January, 2016 and has completed 58 years of dedicated educational service to the community all around, irrespective of caste, creed, community, physical, social or economic handicaps.
